Global Fund
China has sucessfully applied for funding for HIV/AIDs from the Global Fund during rounds 3, 4 and 5. In 2003, 2004, and 2006, the Global Fund approved 98 million USD, 64 million USD, and 28 million USD respectively to China to combat and mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS. The projects cover a total of 21 Chinese provinces, including both medium and low prevalence areas, and include interventions aimed at populations such as Sex Workers, Men who have sex with men, IV drug uers, and migrant workers.The PR (Principle Recipient) for each of these three programmes is the China CDC. In addition, the China CCM (Country Coordinating mechanism) has successfully applied for funding under Round 6 of the Global Fund. The title of the successful application was "Mobilizing Civil Society to Scale Up HIV/AIDS Control Efforts in China".
Details of the implementation plan for Round 6 remain unclear. The China AIDS Association has been designated to act as the PR, and is currently preparing a workplan for the first two years. Return to this page in the near future to see the latest on the Round 6 application process.
